Download the SkeinTwister Captain's Guide! It walks you through setting up and using your SkeinTwister. (Yes, this is the user manual. That title just sounded a bit boring.)

FAQs
I'M HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE HOOK IN.
Some of the couplers are a little on the tight side. Don't be afraid to push on the nose of the hook with some force, you won't bend it. It can be helpful to have the SkeinTwister clamped to the table first. If it feels like there's a little bit of a metal burr or smudge on the end of the hook, you can try taking a little bit of sandpaper to it, and clean off the dust with alcohol. If all that fails, please contact us.
THE HOOK STOPS TURNING BEFORE THE MOTOR SHUTS OFF.
This means the shaft coupler is slipping. Check both hex screws with the L-key provided (size is 2.5mm). Make sure each side is very tight. If it continues to happen, observe the shaft coupler. If it still turns and the hook does not, take the hook out and scratch it up with some coarse sandpaper. Clean it with alcohol before re-inserting, and tighten the coupler again. If the hook AND the coupler stop turning, take the coupler off of the motor shaft. Scratch the motor shaft and clean it before re-inserting the coupler. Tighten it up and try again.
HOW LONG WILL THE SKEINTWISTER'S MOTOR LAST?
The SkeinTwister does have a motor and gearbox, both of which have moving parts that will eventually wear out. How long they last will vary from dyer to dyer, as everyone's typical use case is quite different. The biggest variable that affects motor life is load - so the more twist you crank into the skeins, the more load is put on the motor, and it will wear faster. That said, we estimate ~2 years of motor life under daily use and medium twist loads. We will sell replacement motors and offer replacement instructions, or replacement service for an additional fee. At this time, replacement motors cost under $100, but we cannot guarantee they'll remain so in 2-3 years.
MY SKEINTWISTER IS ACTING WEIRD WHEN I PRESS THE FOOT PEDAL.
Double-check to make sure your foot pedal is plugged in all the way. There's a little bit of resistance when inserting the plug that last 1/4" (5-6 mm), so it's possible to think it's plugged in all way when it still has a little bit left to go. Make sure your connector looks like the "Good" picture below. It's also possible to tap the foot pedal too fast, in which the SkeinTwister may ignore the press. Give it a good 0.5 second solid "ka-chunk" press. If you check both of those things and you're still experiencing issues, please contact us.
