This yarn is produced by Mountain Meadow, a small mill in Wyoming. They buy fleece from local ranchers who have about 95% Rambouillet sheep, though occasionally a Targhee slips into the mix. These wools have merino-grade fineness, and create an amazingly springy yarn. They process fiber sustainably, using citrus-based soaps and mechanical methods to clean and prepare the fibers. Since they do not use a carbonization process in which the wool is immersed in enzymes that dissolve vegetable matter, you may occasionally find a small piece of grass in the yarn.
This is super-squishy, great for warm and chunky hats and cowls.
